Employee of the Month – February 2021
Steve Gethers is a Specimen Processing Manager at Vikor Scientific and leads a team through receiving and verifying patient samples at the laboratory. Steve is tenacious, energetic and a committed leader. He is laser-focused and highly efficient, which are needed skill sets to excel in this position.
However, Steve was not awarded Employee of the Month for his refined skill sets. He was recognized for his mind-set and service to others, starting with the patients and ending with his team.
Steve is always willing to put patient care at the forefront of his priorities while embracing the opportunity to step up and lead. Steve initiates a team meeting every morning to remind everyone of the importance of patient care and our responsibility to serve those patients. Taught by his mother and practiced over twenty-three years in the Air Force, Steve emphasizes, “Service before Self.”
When Steve was asked about being highlighted as Employee of the Month and then awarded on Employee Appreciation Day, Steve responded, “It is indeed a blessing, honor and yet humbling moment, which I credit and thank God and my Vikor family.” Steve also emphasizes and accolades Vikor in “providing an environment that is conducive to achieve one’s personal goals while also advancing the success of Vikor.”
When Steve is not at Vikor, he enjoys spending time with his dogs (Sampson, Tempest and Thor), family and church.
“Steve’s work ethic is unmatched,” says Vikor’s Clinical Operations Manager, Mary Katherine DiFilippo. She also shines light on Steve’s willingness to step up to lead additional staff and process COVID-19 tests in 2020 when many managers and employees were out sick with this sweeping virus.

We had a recent “Pay system outage.” I have worked for businesses that would have simply informed their employees of such “outage” and “apologize” but still leave it up to the employee to figure out a work around until fixed, but not VIKOR. VIKOR decided to not only inform but to make estimated payments until the system was functional again easing the burdens on their employees, who does that??
