Chartered by the state of South Carolina in 1983, SCRA is a public, non-profit corporation that fuels South Carolina’s innovation economy. The organization remains self-sustaining through contributions to the Industry Partnership Fund (IPF), income generated from tenants in our SC Facilities program, and the proceeds from the sale of our government contracting affiliate, ATI.
SCBIO is South Carolina’s investor-driven public/private economic development organization exclusively focused on building, advancing, and growing the life sciences industry in the state. The industry already has an $11.4 billion annual economic impact in the Palmetto State, with more than 670 firms directly involved and over 43,000 professionals directly or indirectly employed in the research, development and commercialization of innovative healthcare, medical device, industrial, environmental and agricultural biotech and products. SCBIO is also official state affiliate of BIO, PhRMA and Advamed, with members including academic institutions, biotech companies, med-tech companies, entrepreneurial organizations, service providers, thought leaders, economic development organizations and related groups whose members are leading the research and development of innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotech and med-tech products that will make a difference across the Palmetto State, and around the world.
